My MCM comiccon in stats…

Every year after con we see the same posts by photographers trying to explain why the after-con rush is so difficult, but it’s hard to understand if you aren’t the one behind the camera/computer. But it’s hard to misunderstand actual numbers! So this year I’ve decided to keep track of some statistics so people can see what really goes on behind the scenes :)

The more comfotable I get taking pictures over the weekend, the quicker it gets and the more I take!

We’ve all heard the jokes about ‘photographers don’t have time to eat at con’ but is it true? In my opinion yes - This all the food and drinks I had for 4 DAYS (Thursday to Sunday). It’s not enough, especially given that I’m on my feet the whole time running around in the heat. I’m so thankful when friends come along and make sure I get a sandwich etc (Thanks Rachael!) because otherwise I really wouldn’t have time <3

NB: The doughnuts were by chance from the @toneagraphy team or this list would be even shorter!

NB: @landoftheluke was kind enough to grab me a coffee on Saturday so he wins MVB for the day!

How long does it take to edit the images I take? Here’s an example of a complicated and a quick edit, the steps I take and the time taken!

The only aim of this post is really to try to be more transparent about what photographers do at MCM (in my experience). There’s a huge difference between being told ‘photographers don’t have time to eat’ and seeing the actual list of four days worth of food!

I love attending MCM in May and October, meeting new people and old friends and working with everyone to get the best photos I can <3 My photography is open to everyone, regardless of gender, age, race, sexuality etc. so if anyone wants to work with me please get in touch!
